Tele2 sees growing interest in data-only mobile plans

Tele2 Netherlands said it's seeing growing demand for data-only mobile plans. A survey by Motivaction among 1,135 consumers supports the trend. It found almost four in ten young people aged 18-30 are not happy making calls, and nine out of ten would rather send a friend a message than call. Almost three-quarters of the Dutch said it would be OK to call only over data.

Tele2 offers Sim-only plans that can be customised with data only. Customers then pay EUR 0.15 per minute or SMS. From 14 minutes/SMS per month, a small bundle of 100 units is cheaper, at EUR 2 per month, the operator noted.

The latest promotion from the operator offers EUR 2 off the normal price of EUR 15 per month for 10 GB. The 20 GB is offered for EUR 16, down from EUR 19, and the Unlimited plan is also reduced by EUR 3, at EUR 20 per month. The rates are valid for a 24-month contract. Discounts are also available on monthly and annual plans, while the standard rates are higher.
